16th CVS Caremark Charity Classic kicks off with Pro-Am
BARRINGTON, R.I. — The 16th annual CVS Caremark Charity Classic officially kicked off at Rhode Island Country Club in Barrington on Sunday morning with the Pepsi MAX Shootout Pro-Am.
More than 30 professional players from the PGA, LPGA and Champions participated.
The tournament has raised more than $17 million for local charities since its inception.
In 2014, the event raised $1.3 million and the hope is that number will be surpassed this year.
Steve Stricker and Bo Van Pelt combined to shoot 25-under-par to win last summer's Classic, setting a tournament record.
