Woman faces charges in wrong-way crash

A {}New Bedford woman will face drunken driving{}charges, following a multi-vehicle accident on the I-Way bridge Friday night.

Rhode Island State Police Lt. {}Mark Farnum told{}NBC10 troopers began receiving emergency 911 calls at around 10:30 p.m.

The{} unidentified woman was allegedly driving the wrong way on the interstate, when she hit another vehicle around 10:30 p.m. Friday.

A third vehicle then collided with{}the back of the second vehicle, and a fourth vehicle hit the side of the first car.

At least four ambulances were dispatched to the scene.{} Lt. Farnum said the operator in the first three vehicles, and a passenger in the third vehicle were taken to Rhode Island Hospital for minor injuries.

The woman, who troopers say drove the wrong way,{} submitted to a blood draw, to be checked for her blood alcohol level.
