Affordable Care Act funding to benefit East Providence care center

The East Bay Community Action Program's Family Health Center in East Providence will benefit from a $250,000 federal grant.

The award, announced by U.S. Senators Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse, and U.S. Rep. David Cicilline, comes from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Health Resources and Services Administration.

The grant is part of the nationwide Affordable Care Act funding to help health centers that have earned the patient-centered medical home designation.

EBCAP will use the funds to build additional examination rooms for patients.

The Family Health Center offers health insurance assistance, obstetrics, pediatrics, teen clinics, adult medicine, and social services referrals.
