Alex and Ani CEO to speak to URI graduates
SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. —
The chief executive officer of jewelry maker Alex and Ani has been picked as the University of Rhode Island's commencement speaker.
The school announced Wednesday that Giovanni Feroce will address graduates on May 19. He will also receive an honorary doctorate, along with Alex and Ani founder Carolyn Rafaelian.
URI says Feroce's "powerful leadership" has helped Alex and Ani make a significant impact on the state economy and that he is known nationally for his efforts to reinvigorate manufacturing.
Feroce graduated from URI in 1991 with a degree in political science. He served two years in the Rhode Island Legislature. He also served two tours in Iraq with the U.S. Army.
Officials say Rafaelian will also share a few words with the seniors on graduation day.
