Authorities looking for robber posing as police officer

Providence police are trying to find a man who posed as a police offer and robbed a city man Sunday afternoon.

According to a police report obtained by NBC 10, the victim was pulled over by a white car with red and blue flashing lights on Eastwood Avenue.

The victim told police that the suspect held a gun to his head and demanded his money and cell phone. The victim told investigators that the suspect was wearing a large gray Stetson style hat with a badge in the middle, somewhat like ones worn by Rhode Island State Police troopers.

The suspect was also said to be wearing a gray shirt, brown dress pants, and high police style boots.

The victim was not hurt.

Rhode Island State Police Capt. James Manni tells NBC 10 that if anyone is concerned that the person pulling them over is not a police officer, they should call 911 or *77.
