The Sandwich Fire Department responded at 10 a.m. for a 23-foot boat sinking in the Cape Cod Canal.

Upon arrival at the Sandwich Marina, responders found the boat on its side near the ramp, half sunk. According to Sandwich Fire Captain Robert Black, the owner of the boat, a New Hampshire man, and his two guests on the boat did not need to be rescued in the water. A cause of why the boat began taking on water was not determined.

A minimal amount of oil released into the water was contained with booms and removed. The boat was removed as well with a salvage company using air bags.
