Bombing victim, Heather Abbott, will return to Boston race
NEWPORT, R.I. —
A Rhode Island woman who lost her left leg in the Boston Marathon bombings plans to return to see the race this year.
Heather Abbott, 39, said she and her friends will attend the race on April 21.
She also plans to ask the Boston Athletic Association if she can run the final part of the race.
Abbott received her first prosthetic leg last June just a couple of months after the bombings.
Her friends have been raising money for her prosthetics and medical bills.
They've collected about $190,000 but their goal is $500,000.
