      Boston parade, cheering fans honor World Series Champions

      The World Series champions the Boston Red Sox are being honored with the traditional "rolling rally" parade through Boston.

      This is the third time the city of Boston has celebrated the Red Sox with a rolling Rally parade. And on Saturday the day is about celebrating the success of the Boston Red Sox.

      But the president of the Red Sox have made a point to say Saturday is about the fans especially after what the city went through this year.

      "We've heard fans talk about how sports have been a great outlet for hope following the April 15 marathon bombings," he said.

      The Red Sox have made a point to honor their fans and many of the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings, including Newport's own Heather Abbott.{} Abbott lost a leg in the bombings and threw out the first pitch at a Red Sox game this year.

      City officials are hoping that the parade and the celebration can be a part of the healing process.

      In light of the tragedy, spirits have been exceptionally high fans have latched onto the Red Sox and the theme of Boston strong which was everywhere throughout the season. Boston is being called the City of Champions.{} This is the eighth time fans of been able to celebrate a win by a Boston team.
