Bristol man involved in dragster crash dies
Steve Elmslie was loved by many.
The Bristol man died Thursday afternoon from his injuries in a crash a week earlier.
His workers put the flag at half-staff at his business, Elmco Tool.
"I've worked for several people since I got out of the Navy. Never worked for anybody as generous and nice in my entire life. Steve was my boss, but he was my friend more than anything," said Mark Salamon, who worked for Elmslie.
Friends said Elmslie was testing the engine of his new front-engine dragster last week when something went wrong and it was catapulted into a nearby restaurant.
Police are still trying to figure out what happened.
For now, his friends remember the man they lost -- a man's man who loved motorcycles and was proud that a picture of him got into American Iron magazine.
Many of his friends openly spoke about their friend on the Facebook page ?Steve Elmslie Well Wishes?.
One woman wrote he had a heart and soul of gold. Another friend spoke about how it was hard to hold back the tears.
Arrangements were not immediately available.
