Car fire closes road

Police in Bellingham, Massachusetts are investigating a car fire on Pulaski Boulevard Monday.

According to police, the driver noticed the fire at about 11 p.m. and called the fire department.{} When crews arrived the SUV was fully involved but the driver was not there.

Witnesses told police they thought there might be fireworks in the vehicle but police said they found no evidence of that.

The vehicle is now in a lot in Bellingham.{} Police said the owner would have to fill out paperwork to collect the SUV.{} The car registration came from Pawtucket they said.

The road had to be closed while firefighters extinguished the fire. Witnesses said they saw the driver flee the scene.
