Car with RI plates linked to abduction attempt

Police in Plymouth, Mass., said they're looking for two men in a car with Rhode Island license plates in connection with a possible abduction attempt.

Police said the men approached three children who were 5 and 6 years on Old Mill Road at about 5:45 p.m. Sunday. The children ran away, and the vehicle fled.

Police tried to stop the car twice before it crashed into another car at an intersection. The car fled the scene again. The driver of the second car was not hurt.

Investigators said the men they're looking for are black and that they were driving a white sedan, possibly a Nissan, with Rhode Island license plates. They said the car would have heavy front-end damage.

Police said Plymouth residents were notified in a phone message about the abduction attempt and that the school district would send home a letter to parents.

Plymouth police asked anyone with information about the men or the car to call them at 508-746-1212.
