West Warwick police on Thursday asked for the public's help in identifying a man who they say tried to rob a liquor store.
Police said the man went into Louise's Liquors at 850 Main St. at about 9 p.m. on Dec. 28 and appeared to be holding a weapon wrapped in a cloth.
The man approached the cash register while pointing the weapon and demanded money from a clerk. Police said the clerk, who was in a back room, came out and the man ran away.
Investigators said the man was wearing black sweat pants, a black hooded sweatshirt and a white cloth over his face. He was last seen running northeast on Ventura Street.
The clerk was not hurt.
West Warwick police asked anyone with information about the man to call detectives at 401-827-9044.
