Central Falls man arrested on gun charges

A Central Falls man is under arrest for firearm charges after being stopped Saturday by Rhode Island State Police.

On Saturday morning around nine, members of the Lincoln Woods Barracks conducted at traffic stop on Route 6 East at Dean Street in Providence.{}Rhode Island State Police say the{}vehicle was stopped due to its rear passenger not wearing a seatbelt. As the Trooper spoke with the occupants of the vehicle, he observed this same passenger to be acting in an unusually nervous manner while he held tightly to a backpack.

During the course of this traffic stop, the Trooper discovered that all three occupants of the vehicle had lengthy criminal records to include previous firearm charges.

As a result of this motor vehicle stop, the rear passenger, 30-year-old Ramziddin Lovett of Central Falls was found to be in possession of .32 caliber Sauer and Sohn semi-automatic pistol without having a license to do so. The pistol in question had an obliterated serial number, also discovered was a fully loaded magazine of .32 caliber ammunition.

He was subsequently charged with carrying a pistol without a license and alteration of marks of identification on a firearm. Lovett was processed at the Lincoln Barracks and arraigned before a Justice of the Peace. He was then transported to and will be held at Adult Correctional Institute until Monday when he will be presented for formal arraignment in the Providence District Court.
