      Charges against city councilor dismissed

      Larceny charges against a former Attleboro City Councilor have been dismissed.

      The Sun Chronicle reports a judge found there was no provision under state law to prosecute her.{}{}

      Allard was indicted by a grand jury in 2011 on a charge of larceny from a person over 65, stemming from her relationship with the late former Probate Court Judge Edward F. Casey, who purchased a house in Attleboro and placed it in Allard's name.

      The former councilor, a live-in caretaker for the retired jurist, had described herself as a longtime friend of the judge and{}proclaimed her innocence.

      {}Allard lost her bid for re-election after being indicted.
