Coventry voters reject proposed tax hike
Voters in Coventry have rejected a proposed property tax hike.
More than 3,000 people cast a ballot during Tuesday's vote.
The final tally won't be available until later on Wednesday, but the chairman of the Board of Canvassers told NBC10 that the tax increase failed.
If passed, property taxes would have increased by 4 percent, adding about $1.3 million to the school budget.
The school committee said staffing and programs could be cut if no additional funding was found.
