The Cumberland American Little League team is on its way to Bristol, Connecticut, for the New England regional tournament.

The team had a big sendoff Thursday morning from Bentley Field. A caravan of cars was decorated for the trip.

The Rhode Island state champs are coached by Dave Belisle, who led the 2011 Cumberland team to Williamsport, Pennsylvania, and the Little League World Series.

Managing expectations this time around won't be a problem. Belisle said he hopes his team plays well and has fun.

"I think we're going to take it one step at a time, but their expectation level is very high. Their just so excited to go to Bristol, first, and then I think once they get there and get acclimated, I think their expectation level will increase even more," Belisle said.

Cumberland American plays its first game at 2 p.m. Saturday against the Massachusetts state champs, Barnstable.
