Cumberland mayor enters lieutenant governor's race
Cumberland Mayor Dan McKee has formally announced his run for lieutenant governor as a Democrat.
McKee launched his campaign at noon Wednesday at the Neutaconkanut Recreation Center in Providence.
McKee is in his sixth two-year-term as mayor. The 62-year-old is a longtime business owner in the Blackstone Valley. His family business, McKee Brothers Oil, has operated for more than 100 years.
He has been on the board of the Boys and Girls Club of Cumberland-Lincoln for more than 25 years.
Democratic Secretary of State Ralph Mollis is term-limited and has said he may run to succeed Democratic Lt. Gov. Elizabeth Roberts. She is serving her second term and is also term-limited.
No Republicans have announced a run for the office.
