Cumberland rallies to beat Tennessee 8-7, advances in LLWS

With an amazing comeback, the kids from Cumberland with their backs against the wall, put it all on the line and came up winners in a stellar performance at the Little League World Series Saturday.

The Cumberland American Little League team now advances in the series after beating Tennessee 8-7.

Cumberland scored three runs in the last inning, to fend off the team from Nashville. They were leading 5-2 but Tennessee scored 5 runs off 7 hits in the top of the 6th to take a 7-5 lead.

CJ Davock hit a two-run, two-out double in the bottom of the sixth inning to give Cumberland the victory.

Nashville scored five runs off reliever Davock in the top of the inning. With two out, Robert Hassell III hit a two-run homer to give Nashville a 6-5 lead, and Sam Slaughter added his second home run of the game.

In the bottom of the inning, Mason Matos had a one-out single to cut it to one. Nick Croteau grounded out, with the runners advancing to second and third, and Davock followed with his walk-off line drive to center.

Cumberland American plays again Monday at 8 p.m. They will face the loser of the of the Chicago and Pearland, Texas game, which will be played on Sunday at 2 p.m.
