2 dead in Fitchburg house fire

Two people have died in a house fire in Fitchburg, Mass.

Authorities say two people were killed in a late night fire in Fitchburg and that a third person was hospitalized.

The two-alarm fire in the East Street home was reported at about 11:30 p.m. Sunday.

Worcester District Attorney Joseph Early Jr. identified the victims as 39-year-old Lisa Englehart and 22-year-old Christopher Brinkley. Frank Huckins Sr. was taken to Leominster Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

Early said six other residents of the home escaped and were uninjured.

Officials said the home was destroyed and that a nearby home sustained damage.

The fire marshal's office said the cause remains under investigation but the fire does not appear suspicious.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner accepted the case and will determine the cause and manner of death for each victim.
