East Providence traffic stop results in heroin seizure
EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. —
Rhode Island State Police have announced two arrests for drug possession, the result of a traffic stop on Route 195 in East Providence.
On May 28, troopers stopped a vehicle for following too close.
As part of a search during the stop, a State Police K-9 unit discovered 20 'bricks' of heroin - more than 1,000 individual packets of narcotics - in a grassy area next to the vehicle.
Police determined the bag had been thrown from the car during the traffic stop.The driver, Keith Casper, 30, of Fall River was arrested and charges with possession with intent to deliver, and driving while in possession of a controlled substance. Casper was arraigned, and ordered held at the Adult Correctional Institution. The passenger, Michael Fleck, 30, of Fall River was also charged with possession with intent to deliver. He's also being held at the ACI.
