Fire destroys home on Coventry pond
COVENTRY, R.I. —
A two-alarm fire destroys a home in Coventry early Tuesday morning.
The home caught fire just after midnight and is a total loss.
Fire crews said the location of this home made it difficult to put out this fire. The house, located at 50 Wood Cove Drive just off Johnson Pond. Fire crews said they were unable to reach the origin of the fire initially as it was behind the home right on the pond.
Five people lived in the multi-unit home, two adults upstairs and two downstairs with an infant. Everyone did make it out safely including two dogs that lived there as well.
One woman was transferred to Kent Hospital for smoke inhalation, her injuries are not considered serious at this time. One dog was also taken to an animal hospital.
Crews extinguished the fire by 5:15 a.m.
