Fish plant to pay fine in worker's death

A New Bedford fish processing plant has agreed to pay a fine stemming from an accident that killed a worker.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration cited Sea Watch for safety violations earlier this month, saying the company failed to protect its workers.

The firm has agreed to pay a reduced fine of more than $26,000, and it will implement safety upgrades.

A 35-year-old sanitation supervisor was killed in January when he was caught in a shucking machine he was cleaning.
