Fishing vessel catches fire in Fairhaven
A smoky fire in Fairhaven forced the evacuation of an 89-foot fishing vessel on Friday morning.
Thick, black smoke could be seen coming from the back of the Ocean Princess, which was docked off Water Street.
The crew was evacuated immediately. No injuries were reported.
Chief Timothy Francis of the Fairhaven Fire Department told NBC 10 the fire was caused by welders working on the boat.
Francis said firefighters had difficulty getting to the vessel because two other boats were blocking access to it.
Firefighters were checking the wiring on the rest of the boat to see if there was any more damage to the vessel.
