Freetown hires new building commissioner
FREETOWN, Mass. —
The Freetown Board of Selectmen has hired a new building commissioner.
Mary Catherine McNeil replaces Paul Bourgeois, who retired after a series of NBC 10 I-Team reports on more than two dozen of taxpayer complaints.
Many Freetown residents said Bourgeois had bullied them, threatened them or otherwise abused his power.
McNeil resigned as the building inspector in Seekonk last week. She also served as building commissioner in Randolph, Mass.
McNeil will begin work on Sept. 9.
Town officials say within a couple of weeks they will make public the 655-page report into the complaints against Bourgeois. Personal information of taxpayers has to be redacted from the document before it can be released.
