Fugitive sex offender captured in Taunton

Massachusetts State Police said Monday that one of the state's most-wanted sex offenders was captured in Taunton.

Victor Quinones is classified as a high risk Level 3 sex offender, but police said he failed to register. The state police said he has a long history of violent assaults in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

Investigators said Quinones attacked a woman and a child with a knife in 1998.

In another case, he was convicted in 2004 of assault with intent to rape in Rhode Island.

Quinones was the second fugitive sex offender captured Monday.{} State police said Placido Valdez Jr. was arrested in Beverly, Mass.
