Fundraising stagnant for RI nightclub fire park

The foundation working to build a memorial at the site of a Rhode Island nightclub fire that killed 100 people is having trouble raising money.

Gina Russo is president of the Station Fire Memorial Foundation. She says it has less than $200,000 in the bank but needs $1.4 million to build and maintain the memorial to the 2003 fire.

The foundation stepped up fundraising efforts more than a year ago after it secured ownership of the land, but Russo says fundraising has been extremely slow.

She says she's disappointed more people and companies haven't donated to a cause that seeks to honor one of the region's worst tragedies.

Much of the work so far has been donated. Russo says they will still need hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash.
