Gaspee Days weekend is here
WARWICK, R.I. —
The 49th Annual Gaspee Days Parade kicked off on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. in Warwick.
More than a dozen Colonial fife & drum corps bands were featured, along with Civil War era units and a contingent of drum and bugle corps.
The parade is just part of Gaspee Days weekend events.
There is a special event during the Waterfire scheduled for Saturday night, with a longboat row re-enactment scheduled at 10 p.m.
Sunday in the Park takes place from Noon to 2 p.m., with music and the Colonial Encampment at Pawtuxet Park. There is food available or you can bring a picnic.
The Burning of the Gaspee concludes the weekend of activities with the symbolic burning of the ship that started the American Revolution.
