Glocester woman faces charges in East Greenwich hit-and-run
EAST GREENWICH, R.I. —
A woman was charged Thursday in a hit-and-run crash in East Greenwich that police said injured two people.
Police said Gene Hemingway and Patricia Daniels were struck in a crosswalk on Main Street just after midnight Wednesday.
State police said 23-year-old Amanda Ashman of Glocester didn't stop to check to make sure the pedestrians were OK. Both were sent to a hospital.
Daniels was released. Hemingway was in fair condition at Rhode Island Hospital.
State police said they found the driver because a witness called police and followed her to Smithfield.
Ashman faces numerous charges, including drunken driving, possession of marijuana and leaving the scene of an accident.
