Rhode Island Gov. Lincoln Chafee has nominated two new members to the state Judicial Nominating Commission.
Scott Rabideau of Pascoag and Vince Watchhorn of Providence have been selected to fill the seats left open by Alexander Biliouris and D. Faye Sanders.
The Nominating Commission is in charge of reviewing applicants for state court vacancies. They advertise the judicial openings, choose candidates to be interviewed, and conduct background checks. Their choices are sent to Chafee for review.
The commission is made up of nine Rhode Island residents, including five lawyers. All are volunteers.
Rabideau is a member of the Burrillville Land Trust, and once served as a member of the General Assembly.
Watchhorn is Head of School and the Providence Country Day School.
