Heather Abbott reads to Cumberland students
CUMBERLAND, R.I. —
Boston Marathon bombing victim and Rhode Island native Heather Abbott read to a group of students at Garvin Memorial School in Cumberland on Monday.
Abbott lost her leg in the bombings.
Aside from reading, the Newport woman also spoke to the children about courage.
"The principal's idea about talking about courage is a good one and it's something that I want kids to know about. A lot of them are familiar with what happened at the bombing last year and it's important for them to know that even though bad things happen, there are people to help," xx said. "So hopefully I got that message across."
Abbott also answered questions about her prosthetic leg and how her life has changed since the bombings.
