Highest woman officer sues Cranston police
CRANSTON, R.I. —
There are more troubles Thursday for the Cranston police force.
The highest ranking woman in the history of the force is now suing the city and five other police officers.
The Providence Journal reports police Lt. Karen Guilbeault is now suing for sexual harassment and gender discrimination.
She says her promotion to lieutenant was delayed, she was denied training and made it difficult for her on the job all because of her gender.
Guilbeault also alleges she was unfairly disciplined and was the victim of harassing text messages.
According to the report, when she became ill, she was also refused paid leave.
The defendants deny all the allegations.
