Hundreds show up for Swim Across America event
NARRAGANSETT, R.I. —
This year's Swim Across America Rhode Island event kicked off from Wheeler Beach in Narragansett Saturday morning, as swimmers waited to take the plunge for a worthy cause.
Hundreds of swimmers showed up ready to dive into the water to raise money for cancer research at Women and Infants Hospital.
The swimmers ranged from college and corporate teams, to individuals all of whom were ready to swim a half or full mile around a course just off shore, for a great cause.
Today's swim raised more than 150-thousand dollars.
