Crash shuts down I-95 during AM commute
WARWICK, R.I. —
One person was transported to the hospital following a crash that briefly closed Interstate 95 south in Warwick during the Tuesday morning commute.
Rhode Island State Police said the accident happened at about 8:30 a.m., just south of Jefferson Boulevard.
Police said the driver of a car swerved to avoid rear-ending the car in front and struck another car. The first car spun to the left and was hit by a box truck.
Traffic was detoured off the highway for about 20 minutes while the accident was cleared. All lanes were blocked and traffic was backed up for miles.
