NBC 10's I-Team has learned thatthe husband of a Rhode Island state representative has been arrested andcharged with credit card fraud.
Henry Fellela, the husband ofstate Rep. Deborah Fellela, was arraigned Friday morning on the charges. Heapparently fell ill after the arraignment and is now in the hospital, accordingto state police.
State police said Henry Fellelawas caught on surveillance cameras using a stolen Shell credit card at variousgas stations. Police said the stolen card was used 17 times in RhodeIsland, Massachusetts, Connecticut and New Jersey for a total of $720 in fraudulentpurchases.
Police said Fellela, 55, was alsodriving a car with expired plates that had been issued to his wife.
The car is a latemodel Lexus. Deborah Fellela was not charged because she was not driving thecar, according to state police.
Maj. MichaelWinquist of the Rhode Island State Police said Fellela has a past criminalhistory including credit card fraud and forgery. Police also said he's beenarrested in the past for involvement in organized crime gambling.
Fellela is due in court Thursdayfor a formal arraignment.
