I-Team: Teen to be tried as an adult in Christmas Eve killing
NBC 10's I-Team has learned a teenager will face a murder charge as an adult in the Christmas Eve shooting death of a man in Pawtucket.
Jose Lopez, 17, of Providence, was waived out of Family Court on Monday.
Police arrested Lopez on April 4, charging him with first-degree murder and conspiracy.
A second suspect, Daquan Watts, 20, of Providence, was arrested on April 8 in Lewiston, Maine. He also faces charges of first-degree murder and conspiracy.
Lopez and Watts are charged in the fatal shooting of 21-year-old Ryan Almeida.
Almeida was found with a gunshot wound to the stomach on Dec. 24 in the doorway of his mother's home at Galego Court. He later died at the hospital.
Court documents obtained by NBC 10 News show the two suspects were seen on camera shooting Almeida.
Lopez is due in Providence District Court on May 19. He will be held at the ACI.
