Judge weighing whether Mollis abused judiciary

      Ralph Mollis

A state judge is looking into allegations that Secretary of State Ralph Mollis abused the judiciary by stalling a hearing into potential lobbying violations connected to ex-Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling's video game company.

The Providence Journal reports that Superior Court Judge Daniel Procaccini ruled Wednesday that he would review the allegations and decide whether to sanction Mollis.

At issue is a court petition filed last month by Mollis' executive counsel that stalled a hearing into potential unregistered lobbying by attorney Michael Corso related to Schilling's company, 38 Studios. The petition sought depositions of people linked to 38 Studios and an unnamed person at The Providence Journal.

A lawyer for Mollis says nothing was improper about the petition.

Corso denies improper lobbying and accused Mollis of abusing the judiciary.
