Lawmakers envision RIPTA connection to Fall River

Some Rhode Island state lawmakers are looking into the possibility of connecting the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority to a Fall River bus line.

Four state senators and representatives from Aquidneck Island are trying to get support for the idea from the state's congressional delegation.

They're requesting a federal waiver of insurance to allow RIPTA to travel between Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

The state lawmakers want RIPTA to restore service to Tiverton. One proposal under consideration would create a route that could connect to a Southeastern Regional Transit Authority line in Fall River.
