Bright-eyed and full of energy, 15-month-old Santana is learning new things every day.
So his family thought the Nabi Jr., a tablet computer made just for kids, would be the perfect gift.
But it didn't work out that way.
Her father, Andre Carr, said the broken tablet is actually his second one.
He said when the screen on the first one stopped working, he returned it to the store and got a new one. But he said when he picked it up he found out the screen did the same thing as the first one he bought.
Nabi products are advertised as not only educational, but durable, with a company video showing a toddler dropping one on concrete.
However NBC 10 found dozens of complaints from parents across the country on Nabi's website when the screen stopped working within days of purchase.
Carr said he called Nabi's customer service phone number for help.
"They said they put me on a list. I told them, 'Well, I'm not going to purchase more stuff from your product. It's going to break again. Why would I do that? It doesn't make any sense.' That's $100 out of your pocket," Carr said.
Carr told NBC 10 he felt he got the runaround.
NBC 10 called the company's help line on Wednesday.
An operator told NBC 10 to call corporate headquarters for Fuhu, the company that makes the tablets, near Los Angeles.
Robb Fujioka, Fuhu's founder, told NBC 10 that the company stands behind all its products, and will replace defective tablets, free of charge.
Fujioka told NBC 10 the company is switching to a new call center after parents complained about a lack of customer service on the phone. He also said Fuhu is hiring an additional 15 people at its headquarters to make sure customers are satisfied.
