The Old Slater Mill Association received a grant for $483,000 from the Champlin Foundations, making it the largest grant ever received by OSMA.
The funds will be used for exterior improvements, including roof replacement, clapboard repair, and window restoration at the Slater Mill Museum.
Slater Mill was built in 1793 and is a National Historic Landmark located at 67 Roosevelt Avenue in Pawtucket. It was the first successful water-powered cotton-spinning mill in America.
It is open to the public seven days a week from May to October and on weekends during March, April, and November. It is open by appointment from December to February.
