Lucy's Hearth to open at new location
MIDDLETOWN, R.I. —
Lucy's Hearth kicked off renovations on its new building in Middletown on Monday.
Local elected officials were on hand to help celebrate.
The organization provides 24-hour emergency service and transitional shelter for homeless mothers and children.
It also helps women via a transitional apartment program, a permanent apartment program, as well as an outreach and aftercare program.
While it had been housed in former convent on West Main Street, more space was needed. Starting next spring, Lucy's Hearth will up and running in its new home on Valley Road.
It has been in existence for more than 30 years.
