Hearing postponed for defendant in deadly crash
A Fall River man accused of killing his girlfriend in a drunken driving crash had his court hearing postponed until May.
Brandon Borge was expected to enter a guilty plea Tuesday, two years after being involved in a crash that killed his girlfriend, Barbara Ellis, and took Borge's legs.
Even veteran police officers admitted the fiery crash in Cranston two years ago was horrifying.
Ellis, 34, burned to death inside her boyfriend's mangled car. She was the mother of a 13-year-old girl.
Police said Borge was drunk. They said he hit speeds over 100 mph and led police on a high-speed chase.
Borge avoided criminal charges for more than a year after the crash. It wasn't until the victim's father contacted the NBC 10 I-Team last year that Borge was arrested.
He was arraigned last year on charges of DUI, death resulting and driving to endanger, death resulting.
