Man convicted of arson in Fall River fire

Christopher Silva

A man was convicted Wednesday of starting a fire that nearly spread to a mill complex in Fall River.

Christopher Silva, 40, was sentenced to 12 years and six months in prison.

Investigators said Silva started a fire in a small mill building 20 feet from the King Philip Mills on Kilburn Street on Jan. 3, 2012.

Three firefighters were injured stopping the flames from spreading to the larger complex.

Silva was stopped by two arson investigators who said he smelled of fuel.
