Man describes attack outside liquor store

A man who was beaten unconscious and robbed near a Pawtucket liquor store told NBC 10 News on Friday that he didn't know his assailants.

Surveillance photos purportedly show two strangers following the victim into Gee's Liquors on Sunday. The man said they followed him out of the store and jumped him.

The victim said he doesn't remember much of what happened next, but $42 was stolen from his pocket.

"I'd give them my money in a heartbeat. I don't care. I'd rather be alive," said the man, who did not want his name printed.

The man said he believes the attack was random and that the attackers may have targeted him because he paid with cash.

"The guys at the liquor store said, 'I've never seen them guys here before either,'" he said.

Pawtucket police asked anyone with information that can help them catch the assailants to call them.
