A West Warwick man was ordered held without bail after being charged with the murder of his estranged wife on Mother's Day.
Robert Bethea, 45, pleaded not guilty Wednesday in Providence Superior Court to charges and domestic murder and violation of a no-contact order.
Bethea is accused of fatally stabbing 41-year-old Shelina Moreino on May 11 in her home on Valley Street in Central Falls, which is the suspect's former address.
Bethea wasn't supposed to be at the house at the time of the killing. The victim had obtained a no-contact order against him.
Bethea had pleaded no contest in January to assaulting Moreino in November. During the assault, he was also charged with stopping Moreino from using a phone when he knew it was needed for an emergency call. He received a one-year suspended sentence and was ordered to have no contact with Moreino.
A pretrial hearing is scheduled for July 28.
