A man said he was shot in the face with BB gun Thursday while walking to a bus stop in Providence.
Police said the man told them he was walking to a bus stop in the area of Atwells and Mount Pleasant avenues at about 1:30 p.m. when he was approached by about seven young men who asked him for the time.
According to police, after giving them the time, the man said he was hit in the face by two objects. He took the bus to Rhode Island College, where he was met by an officer.
Police said they observed what appeared to be a BB wound to the man's left cheek and another to the left top side of his head.
The man, whose name was not released, was taken to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment. A search of the area where the alleged shooting took place turned up no sign of the assailants.
