Man wanted in Providence shooting captured in NYC

A man accused of shooting his ex-girlfriend's mother in Providence was arrested early Friday morning in the Bronx, Providence police said.

Police said Joel Marcano Torres, who also goes by Francisco Diaz, was arrested by the FBI at about 12:30 a.m.

Torres, 32, is being held by the New York Police Department until he is returned to Rhode Island.

Police said Torres shot 54-year-old Theodora Nunez in the back during an argument with her daughter, Jessica, on Wednesday.
