Mass. man accused of 'snow rage'

Douglas Haskell

A Lakeville man is accused of striking a neighbor with a shovel in a disagreement over snow.

Douglas Haskell was arraigned Tuesday in Wareham District Court on a charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. He was released on personal recognizance.

Lakeville police arrested Haskell Saturday night.

According to the police report, a resident was driving through Churchill Road with a plow attached to his truck. The road is narrow, and some snow wound up in Haskell's yard and driveway.

Police said Haskell hit the plow driver with his shovel, leaving a cut above the driver's eye.

A representative of the neighborhood association said it's never experienced this kind of violence before.

Haskell was scheduled to appear in court again March 27.
