Mass. man charged in Twin River Casino fire
LINCOLN, R.I. —
A Massachusetts man has been charged with arson in connection with a fire that damaged several video lottery terminals at a Rhode Island casino.
Lincoln Police Chief Brian Sullivan told The Providence Journal that Abdullah Alkhouri of Tewksbury, Mass., was playing the terminals at the Twin River Casino on Feb. 10 when he lit a cigarette and threw a match in between the machines. Sullivan says the incident was recorded on surveillance video.
Alkhouri was arraigned on a fourth-degree arson charge Thursday in District Court in Warwick. He was released on $5,000 bail and was ordered to return to court April 15.
Alkhouri couldn't be reached for comment Friday. A phone listing for him couldn't be found and it's not clear if he has a lawyer.
