Money Watchers: AAA will respond to bicycle breakdowns
EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. —
AAA Southern New England is offering roadside assistance to bicyclists for the first time.
The benefit is available immediately, and it is comes at no extra cost to current AAA members.
If you're riding your bike and you break down, AAA Southern New England will come to you and try to fix your bike.
If AAA can't make repairs, the driver will deliver you and the bike anywhere within a 10-mile radius.
A spokesman for AAA said the service is about sharing the road, which is not limited to cars.
"It is new to the East Coast. It did start on the West Coast and in Canada, but our members in this area do ride bikes. They ride bikes a lot more than they used to -- whether it's for fun, to go to work or just for great exercise," said Dave Raposa of AAA Southern New England.
The roadside service for bicycles is available throughout Rhode Island, Massachusetts and parts of Connecticut.
