More than 8,500 customers in dark in e. Mass, Cape
HYANNIS, Mass. —
NStar is reporting more than 8,500 customers on Cape Cod and eastern Massachusetts are without power following the winter storm that dumped up to 15 inches of wet, heavy snow.
The Cape Cod Times reports that Barnstable County meteorologist Frank O'Laughlin told the Barnstable County Regional Emergency Planning Committee that high winds predicted storm didn't materialize. Damage to trees and power lines were limited.
NStar spokesman Dennis Galvam says power outages peaked overnight at around 22,000 households.
The number had dropped to 8,515 by Sunday morning.
